I have a big fig tree - I planted it 3 years ago, but it never produced any fruit, although, when I bought it in H. Depot, it had fruit on it.
The tree looks healthy with lots of branches shooting off.
Thanks in advance.

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Figs sometimes take a few years to come into production so it may not be abnormal at all. However, that said, there are other reasons for a lack of fruitfulness. Low light levels can decrease or eliminate fruit production. Cold injury or excessive pruning in winter can also remove potential fruiting wood on the tree.

Take care not to fertilize the tree too much. Allow it to be healthy but not excessively vigorous. It should settle in and start fruiting soon.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
