when do you start vegetable seeds inside and when do you transplant them to your garden?

This really depends on which vegetables you are trying to grow. Tomatoes might be started 8 weeks prior to going outside, melons only 3 weeks. Tomatoes, melons, squash, and peppers are set out a week or two after the last frost because they are not tolerant of cold air or cold soil. Cool season vegetables such as peas, potatoes, and cole crops are set out before the last frost. Other main season crops such as beans are planted around the last frost date. Most vegetables can be direct seeded into the garden and do not have to be started indoors. Check your seed packet for instructions, too.
