|I have 3 HUGE bay leaf plants that keep having new babies.I've had these for 8 yrs.Now some leaves are turning brown & falling off. Do they need more water? This started when I fed it coffee, like a dummy after listening to someone's advice.(Quite a while ago)
|I don't think coffee grounds will hurt your plants, unless you really overdo it. Coffee grounds are a source of nitrogen (although the nitrogen is released very slowly). If the browning leaves are on the outside of the plant, they may be showing winter damage; if the leaves are on the inside of the plant, it could be a natural shedding of the older leaves. Scale insects can attack bay leaves, so check carefully for the pests. If all else fails, prune lightly to encourage healthy new growth. Watering should be once or twice a week, applied slowly so the water has a chance to trickle down and wet the entire root mass. Hope this information helps!
