Rhubarb - Knowledgebase Question

Wheatfield, IN
Question by oconnorpatri

This is my third year growing rhubarb along the south side of the house. It seems I have an abundant amount of seed stalks this year.
Should I cut the seed stalks off?
Would this harm my plant in any way?
I enjoy the foilage but don't want to harm the plant. Thank you, Pat O'Connor

Definitely cut down the flower stalks. If you don't, the plants will go to seed and the foliage will dry up rather quickly. Cut the stalks down as soon as you recognize that they're flower stalks and not new leaves.

Best wishes with your rhubarb!
