Many annuals bloom all summer until frost. For a shady spot you could plant impatiens. For a sunny spot you could plant salvia, petunias, or marigolds, for example. Be sure to prepare the soil well by loosening it down at least six inches and adding two inches or so of compost to it. Keep the plants mulched with organic mulch in a layer about two to three inches thick. This will help keep down weeds and reduce watering needs. Try to plant soon because plants establish better in the early spring than in the summer. Enjoy your flowers this summer!
