You could transplant a young Hydrangea macrophylla or H. arborescens, however an established plant would be quite difficult to move, as would H. paniculata or H. quercifolia due to their deeper root systems. If you wanted to try, the best time would be late winter to very early spring before it started to grow for the year. Tip cuttings are a great way to propagate hydrangeas.
