| John, I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up! I would add about 4 inches of topsoil and about 4 inches of compost to the site and then mix it all in as deeply as is practical. Then add 2 inches of compost again in the fall and another inch or two in the spring season as you change out beds and crops. Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season.
