I have a what I think is a spider plant but it does not have the central bands of creamy white on it. It looks exactly like a spider plant and it fits the description of one but it does not have the creamy white in the middle. What is it or what is wrong with it.

You are growing the species, Chlorophytum comosum, which has solid green leaves. There are other cultivars, which have either white or green stripes. There is nothing wrong with your plant, and there is no way to change its color.
