|I am looking for a vine for a 6' wood fence with a northern exposure. I don't want a large vine, only about 10' maximum. The top of the vine would get only partial sun with the base getting no direct sun, but it won't be in deep shade either. I have been eyeing an annual asarina vine but I can find no information on this plant. Would this be an acceptable vine to try or do you have any other suggestions for this location?
|Asarina would probably work at your site - it prefers partial shade in hot, sunny climates. It may have trouble getting started, though, since it gets no direct sun. You may be better off if you plant your asarina, Black-eyed Susan Vine (Thunbergia), morning glories, trailing nasturtiums, etc. in hanging baskets, and suspend them from the fencetop. You could have quite a display by planting more than one species!
