I cut a vine from a philodendron and put it in some water. After a about two months it had a lot of roots. I planted it in some soil and while I was planting it the base of the plant broke; but not all of the way. After about one week it died. I left it in there for one month and then I tried to replant something else; but it still had its roots and thy look heathy. Is the vine ever going to grow back?

It might be easier to just start all over with a new philodendron cutting and root it in water then transplant it into soil. While the roots may still look healthy on your old philodendron, it make take weeks before it can send up a new shoot.

Best wishes with your garden~
