I've purchased 2 rose bushes thru the mail and planted them as the directions said, they appear to be dead a week later. Do you think they just need time? or should I pull them out and buy new ones?

Bare root roses can take several weeks to settle in and show any top growth so it is too early to give up on them. Be sure you are keeping the soil evenly moist like a wrung out sponge, not sopping wet and not dry. Overwatering is no better than underwatering, so use your finger to check the soil and see if you need to water. Assuming they arrived alive, the canes should be plump and firm and the buds should also be plump and firm. There should be no shriveling, no dents or dried out parts. The buds should begin to gradually swell and then open into leaves. Also, if you have concerns, you should contact your supplier per their warranty instructions. Good luck with your roses!
