What types of tropical plants will do well planted under oak trees?

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Tropical and tropical looking plants for a shady spot include: Japanese aralia, caladiums, various types of ginger, Gold Dust aucuba, and fire spike.
