I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!
Those plants need moderately moist soil and don't like to dry out at all. They prefer morning sun and afternoon shade that is bright shade. Feed them monthly with a complete fertilizer at a moderate rate or about 1/2 cup spread evenly throughout a circular area extending 4 feet out from the trunk in all directions.
