Plant Care - Knowledgebase Question

I purchased a Calla Lily recently. In speaking with the clerk, she never once indicated to me that the bulbs needed to be removed in fall and replanted in spring. Nor do the instructions that came with the plant indicate such. However, I have been told by several people that they do. Can you please advise.

Thank you.

You would absolutely need to lift the cally lily in the fall if you want to keep it for next year. Or, you could grow it in a container and bring it inside in the fall. Calla lilies are not winter hardy in New York. However, many gardeners consider them as annuals to plant and enjoy for the season, then replace them each spring. It's a matter of personal choice. Enjoy your calla lily!
