|My forget-me-nots are getting straggly and many of the leaves are dying, even though all my other perennials are doing well with Miracle Grow food?|
What can I do to get them going better?
|Forget-me-nots are biennial plants; they will grow the first year and flower the second year. After they have flowered and set seeds, the plants will die. The good news is that they readily self sow and new plants will pop up in the garden next spring. After a few years in the same spot, you'll have Forget-me-nots in various stages of development and will usually have flowers every year. Forget-me-nots are an early spring bloomer. Sometimes you can prolong the bloom by cutting off the spent flowers before they set seed. If you're successful, the plants will send up a second flush of bloom. They prefer cooler weather so as soon as it gets hot, the plants will just shrivel up. Think of them as a spring-only bloomer and you won't be disappointed.|
