|I have 2 Leyland Cypress trees (planted 1 yr ago), both have developed a white granular type substance on their inner branches. When scraped into my hand it resembles very fine granulated sugar. The trees have new growth and do not appear otherwise unhealthy. Any ideas?|
I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!
Based on your description that sounds like some type of natural sap exudate from the tree. I would watch the tree carefully for signs of changes, but it should be fine.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
