I am so sorry about your tomatoes! There are many different diseases that can affect tomatoes. The best defenses are: to plant varieties that have high resistance to a wide range of diseases. This is signified by the letters such as V,F,N,T and so on listed on the label or seed packet. Also, rotate your planting so you do not plant tomatoes in the same spot every year. Try to move them around the garden so that there is a three year or longer gap between planting tomatoes in the same place. Also, do a thorough clean up every year and put tomato plant debris and fallen fruit in the trash rather than the compost pile at the end of the season (or as now when you have problem plants).

If you want to try to diagnose what happened, you may find the following information and photos helpful. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.

For a diagnostic chart, you could try the following page as well. I find it difficult to read because of the background photo but the information is useful.

You could also consult with your local county extension to see if they can diagnose it for you.
