My grandmother has a torch lily and would like to divide and give some of them away. Is it too late to do this and if we do divide, will the plants that we divide bloom again this year?

Kniphofia uvaria--Red-Hot-Poker, is also called torch lily. It's best divided in the spring, but you can do it now. You'll sacrafice additional blooms this year if you divide it now, but sometimes we have no choice in our timing. Expect the plants to look a little puny for several weeks after division, but they should recover and begin growing before the fall. Next spring they should produce new flowering stalks.
