prune and feed gardenia's - Knowledgebase Question

I have 3 gardenia's growing in my backyard currently.
One is approximately 6', one is 1 1/2' and the last one is 1'.
Right now the first has some yellow leaves, but is budding just fine.
The second one has yellow leaves and no buds.
And the third one is scraggy with hardly any leaves and no buds what so ever.
Prior to this year, my father had been taking care of them and the bushes looked great.
My father passed away in March this year and I never gave it a thought to ask him how to take care of them. Rather than watching these wonderful bushes slowly die, I would appreciate some help to get these bushes back on track.
No green thumb here. Thank You for any help you can give me.
Sincerely Yours,
Larry White

Gardenias are such awesome plants that I'm glad you have several in your landscape. Rather than try to answer all your questions in the short space I have to respond, I'll direct you to the following website, sponsored by the University of Florida. The page deals directly with gardenias, their needs and how to troubleshoot problems.

After you've read the publication you'll have a better understanding of gardenias, and an even deeper appreciation for them.

Best wishes with your gardenias!
