I just bought two dwarf cherry trees and planted them about 12 feet from the house. My aunt tells me the roots are very invasive and will destroy my foundation. Are cherry tree roots very invasive.

If your trees were standard size, I would agree with your aunt. But dwarf cherry trees will grow only about 8' tall and 6' wide. The root system will remain small, as well. For added insurance, you can do some root pruning every 4-5 years; simply cut straight down with a sharp shovel in a line between the house and the tree. Any roots you encounter will be severed and will no pose a threat to the foundation of your house.
