|Grass seed is best planted in late summer to early fall or else in the early spring. This is the most difficult time of year to start grass seed. You have to prepare the soil well, spread and lightly roll the seed to assure good soil to seed contact, then keep the soil evenly moist (damp like a wrung out sponge) until it germinates. If it dries out, the seeds will die. You may need to water twice a day if the weather is hot or windy. Sometimes using a very light layer of straw over top of the seeded area will shade the soil enough to keep it from drying out yet still allow enough light through sfor the the seeds to grow. Keep in mind also that depending on the variety you seeded, it can take about three weeks for it to germinate. I hope this helps.|
