I watered my lawn with miracle grow lawn care, and now I have one large brown spot and a small brown spot that look like hay. We are only allowed to water the lawn once a week due to a drought we are having. What can I do to fix the problem, its spreading.

Gina,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Your lawn could be turning brown from a couple of different things. It may be drought or it could be a disease. I suggest you take a sample of lawn about 4X4" with some soil and roots. Take the sample from the zone between healthy and dead grass. Then put it in a ziplock bag and take it to your County Extension Office and see if they can identify the problem and if necessary prescribe an appropriate remedy. Taking some photos may also be helpful to them in their diagnosis.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
