I have 2 apple trees and a pear tree. Every year they produce a lot of fruit. How do I keep the birds from getting to them all. There is never any fruit left by time we should be able to pick them.

Some gardeners have good luck by suspending aluminum pie plates or even old CD's in their fruit trees. Hang them from strings and they'll move around and scare away the birds. If this doesn't work you may have to resort to draping the trees with bird netting (available at Home Depot). It's relatively inexpensive but can be quite a challange to drape each tree (speaking from personal experience). The labor is worth it though!

Hope you have a bountiful harvest!
