|I have two questions about dieing plants. One is a viburnum that leaves are slo9wly turning dark brown from the outside to the center. The branches close to he trunk are OK and the higher branches this is starting on the lower branches. My second question is about Jacobs ladder that I planted this year. First one just drooped and died then the one next to it is doing the same. Can you help me please you were so great on my last question that I just love your service. Thanks for the help.|
I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!
Your plant problems are pointing to root related issues, most likely soggy wet or poorly drained soil conditions. However the symptoms are not specific enough for me to be sure about just exactly what is going on. It could also be damage from a weed killer used nearby or some other chemical. I suggest you take a dying plant and some photos to your County Extension Office and see if they can identify the problem and if necessary prescribe an appropriate remedy. In the meantime watch the soil moisture levels and try to maintain moderate moisture.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
