Husk tomato, or tomatillo (Physalis ixocarpa), form a light brown papery husk which covers the fruit. Tomatillos are usually used in Mexican cooking, sauces and dips. To grow, plant in full sunshine, provide one-inch of water per week per plant, and harvest in late summer when the husks have turned brown and papery. Tomatillos are a warm season plant, like tomatoes and squash, and like regular garden soil and warm temperatures.
