Deadheading Ballon Flowers - Knowledgebase Question

I recently purchased some Ballon Flower perennials. They are blooming beautifully, however I am having difficulty deadheading the spent blooms. I'm used to deadheading petunias, which of course pop right off, but the ballon flower spent blooms seem to almost fight me! Can anyone offer me some advice? Thanks in advance!

Sharp pruners are needed when deadheading balloon flowers. The stem is wiry, unlike the fleshy stems of petunias. Rather than trying to snap individual flowers off your balloon flower plant, simply cut the stem back. Doing so will promote the development of additional flowers.
