|The landscaping around my home needs a little help. We are living at our home for ten years and when we moved in we bought one sago palm from Home Depot and paid $25.00. Well the palm is enormous and we have very fond memories of planting this palm. Since then we have planted several very mature queen palms around our home. I also started a rose garden along the sunny side of my home. They are are different varieties of white roses. We have also planted several pasoni jupiters and white lillies of the nile and white azaleas.
I live along the St. John's River in Jacksonville, Florida (32223). Two sides of our property is water. My landscape theme is tropical and white flowering annuals and perennials. (I once read about a moon garden and I have been hooked ever since.) I haven't had much luck with geranniums, petunnias, or several other white flowering annuals. They do fine in the spring but once the hot summer heat comes, my flowers go one after the other.
Can you recommend some white flowering plants (annuals/perennials) that might work with my theme and climate?
I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!
Some flowers to consider include white forms of nicotiana, moon vine (white morning glory type flower), and white four o'clocks. It sounds like you are building a beautiful place!
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
