|I bought a beautiful Phormium from home depot.|
It stated it likes sun to Part shade and moist soil.
I have it if almost full sun in a container. It seems to be rotting away, The leaves look washed out and some of the crowns have rtted. I cut back on watering but it has been near 100 F here some days. Will this save the plant?
I have experience with all kinds of plants from orchids to Hydrangeas and rarely have any problems.
Is the culture info for New Zeland Flax wrong?
I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!
Very strange about your New Zealand Flax. It sounds like it was moved suddenly from shade to sun and perhaps was kept too soggy wet. In your hot southern climate the plant can thrive but may prefer a little break from the full brunt of the sun. Watch the watering and the drainage. Moist soil is fine but soggy conditions are not.
Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
