Charles,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Crape myrtles need lots of sun to bloom well. They also prefer to have a bit of water to keep them vigorous. Some varieties are slower to start blooming than others.

If your plants are in full sun and do not start blooming within another couple of weeks I suggest you fertilize them with a cup of 15-5-10 or similar fertilizer in an 8 foot diameter area beneath each plant (4 feet out from the trunk in all directions). Also give them a good soaking once a week.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
