Jeanette,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Centipede is a light green color naturally and does not want to be fertilized much at all. In fact, trying to push it along with fertilizer can be detrimental to the grass. The weed you will need to hand pull or mow and ignore for now since the weather is warmed up and broadleaf weed killers can damage the Centipede. With adequate water the turf should fill in fine by the end of the season and be choking out any new weed invaders. The following web site offers more info on caring for your Centipede lawn. It includes photos of Centipede's natural color and links to article on caring for it through the year.
