| I would like to know what causes moss to grow. Is it the soil PH and if so is it the acidity or the alkalinity. I have purchased a bag of Moss killer and applied it. Is this killing the moss or changing the PH of the soil. Please enlighten me as my thumb has not yet turned green. Thank you. |
| Moss typically grows in areas where lawn grass will not thrive. Moss will appear in certain areas for a variety of reasons including excessively acidic soil, and/or low fertility, poor drainage, compacted soil, deep shade, and so on. In order to effectively stop the moss, you must adjust the conditions so they are no longer amenable to it. For this reason, using moss killer is usually only a temporary fix.
