I purchased a hibicius plant and transplanted it into a nice pot. The leaves are turning yellow, I water it, let it dry and water it again. What am I doing wrong?? The plant is outside for the season and will be brought in when the weather cools.

Based on your description I am not certain what is happening to your tropical hibiscus plant. These need full direct sun all long. Keep the soil evenly moist while it is actively growing. Make sure your container has a drainage hole in the bottom to allow excess water to escape. Also, the potting mix should be a good quality mix formulated for container growing. A new plant will often go through an adjustment period when it is relocated and/or repotted. If it loses just a few of its leaves then what you are seeing may be normal, especially if the leaves are predominantly to the interior of the plant. If it worsens, you may want to consult with your local Rutgers county extension for a more specific diagnosis.
