|Sevin will deter many kinds of insect pests; beetles, caterpillars, scale, weevils and cutworms. However, slugs don't seem to mind its presence. Since you've seen slugs in the area, and earwigs, too, why not try to trap them to get them out of the area? Simply soak a terra cotta pot in water and set it upside down in the garden near the targeted plants. Prop it up on one side with a stick or stone (about one inch is fine). Slugs, and snails will crawl in overnight and in the morning you can srape them out and reset the trap. Do this as often as necessary to catch all of the creatures. Earwigs can be caught the same way, or you can roll up several sheets of newspaper, dip the cylinder in water to get it moist, then set it on its side in the garden. Overnight earwigs will crawl in to hide. In the morning you can fold up both open ends and toss the newspaper cylinder into the garbage. Repeat as often as necessary.
Best wishes with your garden!
