What is the right way to separate the bulbs of a Ponytail Palm and what is the best way to get rid of spiders on it.

How can I keep slugs off my Petunias.

Spiders don't affect plants as they feed on insects but most insecticides will control them if you need to. If it is spider mites on the plants you can control them with blasts of water directed upward from beneath the foliage periodically. There are some slug baits you can purchase and put around the petunias that would help. One brand name is Sluggo. Regarding dividing the ponytail palm, you can remove the side shoots or pups when they are at least an inch in diameter. Get any roots that you can which may be attached. Then pot them up in a gritty mix (sand added for drainage) and put in a terra cotta pot slightly larger than the bulb at the base of the plant. Don't overwater.
