|I purchased two peach trees about 6 or 7 years ago. They have had friut on them every year. The problem is the fruit does not get any larger than a pingpong ball. What do I need to do to get them to grow larger. For two years strait the 2nd and 3rd year of its life with me I pulled all but a few of the peaches off of the trees, but that didn't help any.
|Since peaches are self-fertile and do not need a second variety for cross-pollination, the only other reasons peaches do not ripen is that they are the wrong variety for your growing region (Varieties such as Redhaven, Cresthaven, Encore, Harken, and Harcrest are quite winter hardy and good for your area), or they are not getting enough summer sunshine. You might want to contact your local Cooperative Extension office if you don't know what kind of peach tree you're growing and need help with its identification. Helpful folks there can give you some pointers as to what other actions you can take to get your peaches to ripen.
