What is the best shrub or perennial to plant on a hill in full sun with a slope? On the outside of the slope I have planted loropetalum with a Japanese maple in the middle of the slope. I need something to fill in between the loropetalum and maple.

Thanks!

Robert,

There are many plants that will work there because most plants like sun and good drainage. I would consider an ornamental grass such as Miscanthus or Pennisetum, a low growing juniper such as Shore Juniper, or a shrub such as the disease resistant rose 'Knock Out'. Perennials to consider include butterfly bush (Buddleja), Salvia 'Indigo Spires' and 'Miss Huff' Lantana.
