First Gopher - Knowledgebase Question

After living here for six years, I discovered what appears to be the FIRST gopher hole in my lawn this morning.

Maybe the little guy just popped his head up, saw he was on the wrong property and left. On the other hand, could this be an indicator that a family is moving in?

Before I drive myself crazy looking at all of the anti-gopher products at Home Depot, would you please give me some direction for a product or some solution at this stage of my discovery. Thanks.

Pat

Gophers make quite a labrynith of tunnels; some are main runs, others are dug for ventilation, for nesting, and for waste. Some of these are seldom-used tunnels and don't necessarily mean the critters will be back with any frequency. On the other hand, he/she could be expanding the main run and just popped up at the end of the run. Of all the products on the market, the surest way of eliminating gophers is with a well-placed trap. If it were my yard, I'd wait to see if more tunnels appeared. If so, I'd get a trap.

Best wishes with your landscape!
