You can repot a pygmy date palm virtually any time of the year. Choose a pot that's one or two sizes larger than the current one and use fresh potting soil. Depending upon the size of the palm, you may need some help. The easiest way to get a palm out of a container is to lay it on its side and gently pull the pot away from the root mass. It helps to water the plant thoroughly the day before the move and to run a knife or stick around the inside of the rim before easing the rootmass out of the container. Be sure to water the palm well after replanting.

Best wishes with your move!
