some of the annual (mostly primrose and gerbera and some others) stopped blooming after I brought them home and planted them. This was so disappointing because I expected to have more color by now. What did I do wrong? I followed plant directions and used plant food.

I don't think you've done anything wrong. Plants bloom in a cycle. After blooming they rest to gather up enough energy to produce more flowers. I think your plants are establishing their roots in their new environment and as soon as they are comfortable and have the strength, they will bloom again for you. Continue to give them good care and you should see new flower buds developing soon.
