|The best time to divide hosta is in early spring just as they begin to grow, but they could still be divided now if you work carefully. Any foliage damage or misshapen outline will remain for the rest of the season. Also, be sure to keep the soil evenly moist while they recover and establish. Enjoy your hostas!
