|I keep getting these green worms on the leaves of my tomato plants. They seem to eat the leave only. Last year they pretty much destroyed my plants. I have two plants on my patio and they growing beautifully. I starting finding them this past week just as my plant's blooms are starting to turn to fruit. I have to be careful as to what I use due to a family member's health issues. What are they and what, if anything, can I use.
|The worms may be tomato horm worms, larvae of a large moth. Just one of these can eat a lot of tomato leaves in a hurry, but they are fairly easy to find and remove by hand. Or, you can spray with Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis). The Bt has to be ingested before it affects the worm, so it is a slower control than handpicking. Bt is a botanical and is safe to use around people, pets and beneficial insects.|
