|HI, I am very new to gardening and taking care of a yard. I want to hire a landscaper to take care of and beautify my yard with different flowers and to get rid of weeds. What questions should I ask someone about there service? Also, what should I not do and do you have any that you can refer me to?|
I would ask for some references in your area. Check to see if they take good care of things, clean up after themselves, do what they say they'll do, are on time, respond to problems promptly, etc. Ask them also for evidence that they are insured (in case anything should go wrong). Ask if they belong to any professional associations. You can also take the extra step of checking with the company to make sure their insurance is current and with the professional association to see if they are representing themselves correctly. It would be a big red flag if they were not honest about that. Ask so to see the contract or agreement that spells out the details of what you will get with the service. Saying they'll mow and plant some flowers for example doesn't let you know how often they'll mow, or how many flowers of what size at planting and how many plantings per year, etc. If it is not on paper you have no promise that it will happen. I don't mean to cast suspicion on all in the industry but these are some of the things you can do to help insure that you are not getting one of the few bad apples.
Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
