I have recently ordered a peach tree and I was wondering what I should do for it to get it off to a good start, like watering, pruning, what I should use for fertilizer, how to keep birds and bugs off them, and how long will they will take to fruit? I also recently ordered some cherry bushes--can you give me some tips on them too?

You are smart to try to get your tree off to a good start! The tree should come with planting instructions to help you.
Instead of trying to give you detailed information here, I'm going to direct you to some web sites: these are articles from National Gardening magazine that detail fruit tree care:

There are some wonderful books, too, to help you. One is "Backyard Fruits & Berries" by Diane E. Bilderback & Dorothy Hinshaw Patent (Rodale Press, Emmaus, PA; ISBN# 0-87857-509-X). Another is "Fruits and Berries for the Home Garden, by Lewis Hill (Storey Communications, Pownal, VT, ISBN# 0-88266-764-5) Good luck, and enjoy!
