I recieved a trumpet plant from my Grandmother, and am unsure as how to trim it each year. Do I trim in the Winter or Spring, and how much do I trim off? thanks

Trumpet vine can be pruned at any time of the year. Once it gets established the trumpet vine thrives on pruning. Thin and prune aggressively to control and shape the plant. Some gardeners cut it down to ground level each winter. If your plant is young, simply prune a few inches off each stem to encourage branching. As it becomes established, you can prune out old stems (down to ground level) to encourage new shoots from the root area. Eventually you'll have a thick, lush and beautiful plant. Enjoy!
