My white pine tree has holes in the trunk of the tree and resin is leaking pretty badly. What do I do? And what is it. I don't want my tree to die. Other than that the tree looks healthy. Diana |
There are several kinds of beetles that attack white pines. Unfortunately, once the infestation starts, there's little you can do to control the pests. They are tunneling into the wood beneath the bark and are therefore protected from any insecticides you might spray on the tree. I'm wish I had better news for you! Sometimes a healthy tree can overcome the damage and survive. But, not always. You might want to contact your local Cooperative Extension office to see if there are any new ways to combat theses pests. Extension offices are located in each county. Here's a website with a list of county offices: http://www.ca.uky.edu/county/ Best wishes with your pine tree! |
