I WANT TO KNOW IF A DARK LEAF JAPANESE MAPLE WILL GROW IN MY BACKYARD. I'M IN ZONE 8B ACCORDING TO THE ZONING MAP. IT WOULD GET LOTS OF SUN DURING THE DAY. SHOULD I INVEST IN THIS TREE OR NOT? THANKS JOAN

A burgundy leafed Japanese maple such as Bloodgood will grow in full sun in your gardening region. Avoid the delicate lacy leaved Japanese maples; they are sensitive to full sunshine.
