There's no easy way to eradicate weedy plants that are in and among desired plants. The best approach is to dig them out, roots and all. In the case of ivy, you can pull the vines out of the ground and then paint full strength Round-Up on the ends of the stems close to the roots. The herbicide will travel down and kill most of the roots. Keep it off your other plants, though because it kills on contact.
