The interior leaves on our honeysuckles (Arnold Red) have turned yellow, on their way to brown. This is the 2nd year we've had them, and the 2nd year this has happened. I've watered adequately, I believe (everything else is hanging on, despite lack of rain). What's going on and why the interior leaves? |
Honeysuckles tend to lose their inner leaves about this time each year. To keep your Arnold Red Tatarian Honeysuckle attractive, you'll need to prune it back each spring to remove the oldest growth and encourage healthy new growth. This will also open the plant up to better air circulation, which will make it less susceptible to powdery mildew (which often turns the leaves yellow and then brown). |
