|If I test the soil for its pH (using litmus paper) and it's acidic, how do I know how much lime to add to the soil to make it neutral?

|The answer really depends on a specific pH reading. Neutral is 7. There in the Pacific Northwest your soil will test acidic (probably 5.8 - 6.5). Lime will sweeten the soil, but it takes a few months, and it only changes it a little so you'll need to reapply lime every couple of years. Sorry I can't be more specific.
