I transplanted a fir tree and is now totally brown but a tree branch I cut shows the tree is still green inside. Can it be saved?

If there's still green tissue, it means there is still some life left in the tree. I would leave it alone. It may produce new needles next spring. If it does not, I'd remove it and replace it with a healthy specimen.
